The Original Punk - Jeff Beck Stories: From Yardbird to the Guitar Shop is a

7"x10" hardback book published in 2026 by veteran music journalist Steve Rosen.

There are 356 pages including a 32-page color and black-and-white insert containing

never-seen-before photos of Beck dating back to 1969.

Rosen, a veteran rock journalist with a career spanning 50 years, first wrote a book on

the legendary guitarist back in 1978. Titled The Beck Book, that was the first biography ever published but was only printed in Japan. The author revisited that book and completely revised and updated it with many new and rare interviews.

Included in The Original Punk are archival conversations with key figures in Beck's life including:

Jimmy Page, Stevie Wonder, Ritchie Blackmore, Donovan, Pete Townshend, Frank Zappa and many more. More than a few of the artists interviewed here have sadly passed away, which makes this collection of conversations all the more rare and vauable.

The author first interviewed Jeff in 1973 and would speak with him three more

times including their last conversation in 1989. Consequently, Jeff Beck Stories

focuses on Beck's very early days pre-Yardbirds and ends around the release of the

Guitar Shop album in '89 (hence the sub-title: From Yardbird to the Guitar Shop).

Rosen's love and respect for Jeff is apparent in every word you read. However,

the author doesn't shy away from bringing his own very real and honest feelings into play in sections he's titled Beck Brake.

Geoffrey Arnold Beck was the most gifted and creative guitar player to ever take a breath. To better understand why he was the most profoundly important guitarist of all time, you should read  The Original Punk - Jeff Beck Stories: From Yardbird to the Guitar Shop.
